When it’s an emergency

Common urgent situations I prioritise:

  • Only source of heating: If your open fire or stove is the main way you heat your home and it’s suddenly unsafe or unusable
  • Smoke or fumes in the room: Smoke spilling back, strong fumes, or signs the flue may be blocked or partially collapsed.
  • Trapped pet or wildlife: Cats, birds, squirrels, jackdaws, pigeons—anything stuck in the chimney or stove area and causing distress or damage.
  • Falling debris or sudden blockage: Bricks, soot, or nest material dropping into the fireplace or stove, especially after high winds.

If you’re looking at any of these and thinking, “I need someone now”, you’re in the right place.

Same‑day emergency service – as soon as I can

If your fire or stove is your only source of heating, or there’s a trapped pet or wildlife in the chimney, I offer same‑day priority service across Bath and aim to be on site as soon as I can.

I treat genuine emergencies differently from routine sweeping:

  • Priority booking: Your job jumps to the front of the queue.
  • Flexible hours: Evening/early morning attendance where necessary.
  • Clear communication: Honest arrival times and updates

Bath’s chimneys don’t wait for a convenient moment—so neither do I.

What I actually do on an emergency visit

Depending on the situation, an emergency call‑out can include:

  • Safety assessment of the appliance and flue
  • Urgent sweeping to clear blockages
  • Nest and debris removal where safe and possible
  • Careful rescue or release of trapped wildlife
  • Advice on temporary heating and safe use until a full visit

You’ll get clear, written notes on what’s been done and what needs doing next, plus an insurance‑friendly certificate where appropriate.

Coverage area

Emergency chimney sweep call‑outs are available across:

  • Bath (BA1 & BA2) – including Widcombe, Bathwick, Combe Down, Bear Flat, Larkhall, Oldfield Park, Weston and surrounding areas.

If you’re just outside Bath, still call—I’ll tell you honestly whether I can attend same day or help you find someone closer.

Pricing (emergency work)

Emergency work is always quoted up front, but as a guide:

  • 8am -8pm Emergency call‑out (Bath area): fixed fee £100
  • Out of hours fixed fee (Bath Area) £200

  • Sweeping / clearance / nest removal: charged at standard rates where possible
  • Complex rescue or remedial work: priced on site once I’ve seen the situation

You’ll never be surprised by a bill—everything is agreed before work starts.
